About the UMD Alumni Association
The UMD Alumni Association serves as liaison between UMD and nearly 60,000 graduates. The goal of the UMD Alumni Association is to foster a spirit of loyalty, involvement and life-long commitment by alumni and friends. It encourages alumni to stay connected to each other and the University.
The Association has an advisory Board of Directors which meets quarterly; twice in Duluth and two times in the Twin Cities. The Board is guided by a 3-year strategic plan. The Board has established 7 standing committees: nominating, membership, benefits, communications, bulldog (senior transition), events, and scholarship. A Grandma’s Marathon and a legislative subcommittee have recently been formed.
UMD alumni are encouraged to participate on the Board of Directors or as committee members. Board member terms are three years. To be considered for a board position, please complete the brief application form. Committees are open to everyone interested in participating and there is no application process. Please let us know your interest, as well as suggestions for others who might be interested in becoming involved.
The UMD Alumni Association is an integral part of the Advancement department at UMD which is under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Bill Wade. The alumni office is staffed by Patty DeLano, Alumni Director, and Lisa Pratt, Alumni Associate, and is located in the Darland Administration Building at 1049 University Drive. The office serves as a liaison between the University and the UMD Alumni Board of Directors and UMD alumni. We welcome your calls, emails and especially your visit. We want to hear from you: your suggestions and ideas, your news as well as your interest in becoming involved with the UMD Alumni Association.

How Can I Make a Contribution to the UMD Alumni Association?
Unlike many alumni associations, the UMD Alumni Association does not have a dues paying requirement. Many alumni then ask, how can I make a contribution to the UMD Alumni Association? The Board of Directors suggests a donation to the UMD Alumni Association Scholarship. This scholarship was established in 2007 to benefit children and grandchildren of UMD alumni. To learn more about the scholarship or to make a gift online go to UMD Alumni Association Scholarship. We welcome your call 866-726-7164 or 218-726-7164.
