(You need not be an Alumni Association board member to join these committees.)
Benefits Committee
Goal: To research options for and enhance the existing benefits package for UMDAA members in order to increase alumni affinity and to develop a sense of belonging to the University of Minnesota Duluth Alumni Association.
Who we are looking for: Alumni who are outgoing, have business experience, and are interested in discovering new benefit options for alumni and families.
Communications Committee
Goal: To increase and improve communication channels that reach our diverse alumni base and local community, utilizing innovative technologies along with traditional methods, to promote the mission of the UMD Alumni Association.
Who we are looking for: Creative alumni who like writing, are experienced with Social Media platforms, enjoy interacting with others, and who want to gain marketing experience.
Events Committee
Goal: To research and recommend UMD alumni events, activities, and opportunities to spark increased and active participation among alumni and friends in all areas, and to explore sponsorship opportunities to underwrite these activities.
Who we are looking for: Alumni who are detail-oriented, outgoing, and have fun and informative event ideas to share.
Membership Committee
Goal: To expand geographical participation, corporate groups, organization affiliations, and to research and recommend mentoring models.
Who we are looking for: Alumni who live anywhere in the U.S., who enjoy meeting people, and would like to connect with other UMD alumni in your geographic area or place of business.
Nominating Committee
Goal: To assist and develop a process to identify a diverse list of potential board, committee and special project members and to maintain an active list of distinguished alumni for potential award recognition.
Who we are looking for: Alumni who know other alumni who wish to be involved with the UMD Alumni Association and who might be aware of others who deserve recognition for their philanthropic and community efforts.
Scholarship Committee
Goal: To foster growth of the UMD Alumni Scholarship fund, choose well-rounded recipients and provide the recipients with leadership opportunities.
Who we are looking for: Alumni who are interested in promoting the UMD Alumni Association Scholarship and want to be involved in the selection of the scholarship recipients and are willing to review applications and/or interview candidates in the spring.
Student and Young Alumni Committee
Goal: To increase the awareness of the UMDAA and encourage future involvement and participation in the UMDAA through activities and programing that will be attractive and beneficial to current and former students as well as young alumni.
Who we are looking for: Current students or recent graduates interested in learning how committees work or gaining leadership experience and who wish to have input into fun and creative programming for the UMD Alumni Association’s young alumni population.
- Each committee shall work to create, implement and evaluate annually a 3-year plan to pursue its goal.
