    Days Inn offers a special $59 rate to anyone associated with the university. The only exception to this rate is weekends during the busy season (June through November). During those weekends, Days Inn offers a 20% discount off regular rates. Call direct at (218) 727-3110, and ask for the UMD rate. Days Inn is located near the Miller Hill Mall in Duluth, Minn.

    Edgewater Resort and Waterpark

    Edgewater Resort and Waterpark offers UMD alumni the following discounts:
    50% off Sunday through Thursday (September to May)
    20% off Sunday through Thursday (June, July, and August)
    25% off Holidays/School Breaks
    15% off Friday and Saturday all year

    Fitgers Inn

    Fitgers Inn offers alumni the UMD alumni Preferred rate* Sunday – Thursday throughout the year. The rate is $99.00 for a standard or deluxe room, and $169.00 for a whirlpool suite. On Friday and Saturday, UMD alumni will be offered a 10% discount. Be sure and book early and mention the UMD alumni Preferred Rate. For reservations call 218-722-8826 or 800-726-2982.

    South Pier Inn

    The South Pier Inn is one of Duluth’s waterfront hotels located on Park Point. As three of the five owners of the South Pier Inn are UMD graduates, they are pleased to extend these special rates to UMD Alumni:
    5% off all room all days of the week May – October
    $70 for a standard room, $107 for a waterfront suite Monday – Thursday between November and May
    10% off all room types Friday and Saturday between November and May.

  • Sports & Health Center Facilities Pass

    UMD alumni are welcome to use UMD’s beautiful Sports and Health Center. To do so they must purchase a facilities pass. This entitles you access the following during business hours: jogging track, gymnasium, tennis courts, weight and cardio rooms, pool, field house, climbing wall and the ice rink.

    UMD alumni are also encouraged to participate in Recreational Sports Outdoor Programs and activities, except intramural sports.

    Summer 2013 pass (June 1 – August 31) = $100
    Upcoming rates for 2014 have not been determined yet. However, this past year they were $140 for one semester and $295 for an annual pass.

    Alumni and Duluth community members have borrowing privileges and access to UMD library materials. Courtesy cards are available for those wishing to check out items from the UMD library and UMD also has databases available for public use.

  • Tuition Break for Children of Alumni

    As alumni of UMD, your children can qualify for an out of state resident waiver to attend UMD, thus paying the same tuition rate as an in-state resident. The only requirement is that the student maintains a 3.0 while in school.

    Eligible students are identified through an item on the application for admission. The item asks if any members of the applicant’s family graduated from UMD and the name and relationship to the applicant.   • University for Seniors

    University for Seniors (US) is associated with the University of Minnesota Duluth educational system and sponsored by Continuing Education. University for Seniors has been providing life-long learning opportunities for individuals age fifty and above since 1988. The educational program focuses on humanities-based opportunities for intellectual and cultural development, but also includes options for social events and field trips.

    The program is designed to function as an intellectual cooperative with its members acting as instructors, planners and committee members. Continuing Education staff administer the program. Thirty plus study groups are offered each term. Three eight-week terms are held each academic year.

    Membership is open to all individuals age 50 years or older who have an interest in learning, whether their formal education ended early in life or they acquired advanced degrees.
