It’s incredibly hard to rouse oneself to get up in the morning on a regular basis, let alone willingly get us at an incredibly earlier hour than usual. But, living in the Northland, we’re often rewarded for our efforts. Next time you’re up before the rest of the world, try and catch the sunrise over Lake Superior. Or the next time Finals Week rolls around and after glancing at the clock, you realize its better to stay awake for that 8 am final than try and catch a 20-minute cat nap, why not grab a cup of coffee (or a Monster energy drink) and pull up a seat by the lake.
You can’t experience a morning like it anywhere else.
That’s one reason attending UMD and living in Duluth, Minn., for four years is so special. The view from the dorms can’t be matched. How many colleges in the Midwest offer a view of not just a lake, but Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the United States? Not many, we promise you.
Don’t believe us? Take a long look at the photo below shared with us by a UMD student living in Lake Superior Hall. Where else are you going to see something like that? Answer: No where.
